In Selva di Cadore there is a museum of palaeontology, archaeology and history that explains the history of the Dolomites region through discoveries of international significance, from prehistory to the Middle Ages.

Founded in 1982 as the Val Fiorentina Civic Museum, since 1997 it is dedicated to Vittorino Cazzetta, a passionate, self-taught scholar and author of the area’s most significant scientific discoveries. The museum has three floors and offers an exhibition going from the earliest geological eras to the first inhabitants of the Alps and to the pastoral traditions that characterised these lands for millennia.
